Understanding the Stimulus: Take advantage to get ahead
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was signed into law by President Obama in February 2009 and includes more than $60 billion in funding allocated to the healthcare information technology (HIT) sector. Additionally, there are significant financial incentives through Medicare and Medicaid to hospitals and physicians who adopt and use certified electronic health records (EHR), such as those provided by NextGen Healthcare and QSIDental’s QSIDental™ Web. QSIDental and NextGen Healthcare have solutions to help you gain meaningful use incentives.
Physicians, physician assistants, nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, and dentists are eligible for $40,000 - $65,000 in funding for demonstrating that they are meaningfully using Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Dental Records (EDR). Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs), Rural Health Centers and other non-profit organizations are eligible for funding through the Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California) and Medicare program. Practices that fail to implement EHR/EDR will be penalized over time with decreasing Medicare and Medicaid payments. In other words, medical and dental practices that adopt the NextGen Healthcare suite of clinical applications including NextGen® Ambulatory EHR or NextGen® EDR, can access those funds after demonstrating "meaningful use."
